Avis Hawley Knight Obituary (1943 - 2020)

REIDSVILLE - Avis Rose Hawley Knight, 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2020 at Moses Cone Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Pleasantville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and face coverings are encouraged. Mrs. Knight was born on May 9, 1943 in Lee County to the late William Francis Hawley and Mary Elsie Hawley. She retired as owner and operator of Chaney's Restaurant in Reidsville and Eden, where she exemplified a notable work ethic. She was a loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Maurice Knight; brothers, Elmer Hawley and Tim Hawley and sister, Hildred Ammons. Survivors include her children, Deanna Knight Gwynn (Daryl) and Samuel Knight (Lisa) of the home; grandchildren, Daniel Gwynn (Savannah), Justin Gwynn (Lauren), Breanna Huff (Will), Katie Paschal (Joey), Tyler Knight (Tiffany) and Cody Knight (Alyssa); nine great-grandchildren; step-children, Maurice Knight, Dawn Jones, Jon Knight, Beverly Knight, Edwin Knight, Aaron Knight and Andrew Knight. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
