Evelyn Magdalene Pyrtle Obituary (1921 - 2018)

MADISON Evelyn Magdalene Smith Pyrtle, 97, left her earthly home, Friday, October 5, 2018, at Annie Penn Hospital. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home, and all other times at her residence. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Evelyn Pyrtle was born March 8, 1921, to Columbus Derry Smith and Dora Snider Smith. She was employed with Gem Dandy, Inc., and was a beautician for 60 years in Evelyns Beauty Shop. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayodan. Her pleasure was found in varied needle work, i.e. knitting, crocheting, etc. She was a very caring and generous lady. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Aldean Pyrtle; son, Keith Pyrtle; brothers, Otis, Harvey, and Ernest Smith. Survivors include her son, Dwan D. Pyrtle (Rosemary); grandson, George O. Pyrtle; sister, Esteen S. Cardwell; nephew, Dwight Cardwell (Teresa); nieces, Janice Smith and Debra "Debby" Cardwell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Samaritans Purse for Hurricane Florence Relief fund, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. . Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
