Guy Eugene Isbell Obituary (1942 - 2021)

Guy Eugene Isbell SGM (Ret), 79, left his earthly home Thursday, July 29, 2021, at home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, August 2, 2021, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Fort Bragg. Gene was born on February 5, 1942, in Bowling Green, KY, to the late Guy Isbell and Antha Crabtree Isbell. His life was devoted to the U.S. Army, starting as the child of a U.S. Army veteran and through his own service of over 24 years. He was a recipient of many meritorious service medals, including the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Gene was an accomplished baseball pitcher and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, a board member of the Northeast Stokes Fire and Rescue, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion Post 140. He was committed to his church, family, nation, community and friends in equal measure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Pat Atkins and Sheila Rose Isbell. He was a loving husband of 58 years to his wife Kaye Priddy Isbell; devoted to his children, son Nicholas Isbell (Theresa); daughters Patrice Isbell, Paula I. Watkins (Gary), Terri Tysinger; grandchildren, Josh Watkins (Lacey), Ashley Paldino (Dan); Cheyenne Isbell, Elizabeth Isbell, Kayleigh Isbell, and Tesla Isbell; great-grandchildren Kolton and Aria; brother Eddie Isbell (Cindy) and mother-in-law Lena Gann Priddy. Special thanks to Dr. Hill and the staff of Salem Neurology for the care they provided over the years.
