Hassell Cleveland Smith Obituary (1937 - 2019)

MADISON Hassell Cleveland Smith, 81, died on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and all other times at the residence. Mr. Smith was born on August 6, 1937 in Rockingham County to the late Grover Cleveland Smith and Lydia James Vernon Smith. He retired after thirty years of truck driving. In his earlier years, he held his pilot license and enjoyed traveling with his friends and family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Ray Smith and his sister, Peggy Lawrence Williams. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Martha Nixon Smith; son, Kenneth "Kenny" Cleveland Smith (Selma Ahnert) of Greensboro; daughters, Lisa Smith Tart (Kenneth) of Dunn and Amy Smith Weber (Joe) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
