Inice Nelson Joyce Stewart Obituary (1928 - 2021)

MADISON - Inice Nelson Joyce Stewart, age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021. She was raised in Rockingham County, North Carolina and in 1946 she married David Joyce. Through the years she worked on the farm and was also employed at Gem Dandy and the Madison Throwing Plant. She married Russell Stewart in 1978. Inice loved God, her church, her family, gardening, flowers, quilting, cooking and dancing to bluegrass music. In addition to her parents, Troy and Missouri Nelson, Inice was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Stewart; two brothers and a sister-in-law Hassel Nelson, Wade Nelson and Ruby Nelson; and grandson, Christopher Joyce. Survivors include two daughters, Vonnie Joyce Guthrie (Tom) and Becky Joyce Tessau (Ryan); two sons, James "Ronnie" Joyce and Anthony "Donald" Joyce (Tonda); four sisters: Beulah Vernon, Sadie Faust, Fay Gann and Shelby Corum; nine grandchildren, Chad Myers, Leann Myers, Jamie Joyce (Angel), Ardena Joyce Burris (Walcey), Troy Joyce, Dee Joyce (Kim), Michael Joyce, Bobby Joyce, Eric Tessau (Angie) and seventeen great-grandchildren. Inice will lie in repose from 1 p.m until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 and from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, for those wishing to sign a register and pay their respects. A private graveside service will be held on Monday at the Nelson Family Cemetery, next to Mt Hermon United Methodist Church.
