Kathelene Tilley Shelton Obituary (1946 - 2021)

Kathelene Tilley Shelton, 75, passed away early Sunday morning, December 5, 2021, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 9th, at Colonial Funeral Home and Chapel in Madison. Burial will follow in Stokesdale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at the funeral home and other times at her residence, 736 Lemons Road in Stokesdale. Born March 27, 1946 in Surry County, NC, Kathelene was the daughter of the late Joe and Pearl Yates Tilley. She was a former 20+ year employee of Burlington Industries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Joseph Ray Shelton; brothers, Joe Henry Tilley and Eugene Tilley; and sisters, Louise Tilley and Sadie Mae Tilley. Kathelene is survived by her husband of 57 years, Terry Leon Shelton of the home; son, Terry Shelton, Jr. of Stoneville; daughters, Dolores Pegram and husband, Danny, of Reidsville and Teresa Barrett and husband, Eddie, of Stokesdale; 11 grandchildren, John "Bubba" Barrett, Jessica Pegram, Erica Inman, Tracy Shelton, Michael Barrett, Rena Coker, Katherine Milan, Ollie Milan, Amanda Pegram and Daniel Pegram; 14 great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Smith, Isaac Barrett, Haley Inman, Cassidy Inman, Caleb Coker, Kirby Milan, Bently Barrett, Makayla Coker, Scarlett Barrett, Russell Milan, Penelope Barrett, Raylen Milan, Cody Ray Coker and Ava Rose Carter; and brothers, Donald Lee Tilley of Pfafftown and J.
