Wilma Sorrell Southern Obituary (1950 - 2019)

Wilma Jean Sorrell Southern, 68, of 141 Washington Mills Rd, Mayodan went to be with her Lord and Savior on January, 26, 2019 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. as she was surrounded by family. She was employed by Cone Mills where she was a spooler, winder, creeler and warp mill operator for over 25 years. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. By devoting her life to God, she touched the lives of many people by helping anyone in need. Surviving are her husband, Mr. Austin Aaron Southern Sr. "Butch" of Mayodan, N.C.; daughter Angela Dale Southern "Bumpy" of Mayodan, N.C. and special companion "Prissy"; five grandchildren Brittany Bryan (Wade Bryan) of Jamestown, L.A., Michael A. Westcott of Madison, N.C., Colt L.Cardwell of Stoneville N.C., Laine D. Cardwell of Mayodan N.C., Destiny B. Cardwell of Stoneville, N.C.; four great-grandchildren Serinity F. Bryan, Paisley S. Bryan, Austin L. Cardwell, and Gracie K. Bryan; and brother Kenneth R. Sorrell of New York, NY; special friends Angela Bowman "Sissy" and Jeff Baker, Jr. Proceeded in death by her son Austin Aaron Southern Jr. mother Hettie Dale Blake Sorrell; father Ralph Lee Sorrell; three brothers Richard Sorrell, Curtis Sorrell, and Harold Sorrell; and Sister Laura White. The memorial will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, NC on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 7:00pm. The family will be accepting visitors from 6:00 7:00pm.
