Arey A.J. O'Neal, III Obituary (1940

MAYODAN - Arey "A.J." ONeal, III, 79, left this earthly life Friday, April 3, 2020, at Moses Cone Hospital. A private funeral will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Colonial Funeral Home with burial following in Gibson Cemetery, Bennett Road, Stoneville, N.C. A.J. was born in Edgecombe County on August 7, 1940, to the late Arey ONeal Jr. and Katie Esther Simpkins ONeal. He retired from Gilbarco as a supervisor. A.J. was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam. Whatever he did, he took pride in doing a job well. One of his passions was restoring vintage cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Peggy Middleton and Jeanette Harrell. Survivors include his wife Nannie Faye Kimmons ONeal; son David Michael ONeal; daughters Terry ONeal and Michelle Smith; brother Gray ONeal; sister Ellen Webb; 11 grandchildren Laura, Monica, Mike Jr., A.J., Josh, Lindsey, Melissa, Jonathan, Brittany, Mindy including a special granddaughter Cheyenne Nicole Smith; and 13 great-grandchildren.
