Frances Hall Joyce Obituary (1930 - 2021)

MADISON - Frances Hall Joyce, 91, left this earthly life on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve Lambert officiating. Mrs. Joyce was born on March 1, 1930 in Rockingham County to the late Walter Burke Hall and Lemma Martin Hall. Frances was a longtime member of Comer's Chapel Baptist Church, where she was one of the oldest living members. She had a servant's heart and devoted her time and efforts to her church, family, friends and multiple causes such as The ARC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Weldon "J.W." Joyce; sister, Othelia Collins and brother, C. Burke Hall. Survivors include her son, Barry Weldon Joyce; special niece, Donna Lawson; special adopted granddaughter, Brittany Strader; special nephew, Jamie Lawson; brother-in-law, Willard Collins; sister-in-law, Joan Reynolds and many special extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home. Mrs. Joyce will lie in state beginning at 9 a.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
