Hazel Tilley Medley Obituary (1941 - 2022)

LAWSONVILLE - Mary "Hazel" Tilley Medley, 81, went to be with her heavenly father, April 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawsonville Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m., prior to the service . Hazel was born January 9, 1941, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Thomas and Mammie Ludie Smith Tilley. She was the wife of James Garfield Medley. They shared a wonderful life together for 38 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Lawsonville Church of God. She loved her church and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Madison Lawson; three sons, Jimmy, Chris, and Randal Lawson; and a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Collins and Walter. Survivors include her husband; her children, Cindy Lawson (Dale), Thomas Lawson (Tina), Sheila Smith (Ronnie), Ethel Lawson Pyrtle, Mike Medley (Una), Jeff Medley (Susan) and Jean Baker (Gary); daughters-in-law, Tabbath Lawson, Kimberly Lawson, and Carolyn Lawson; twenty grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
