Paul Dean "PD" Knight Obituary (1930 - 2022)

MADISON--Paul Dean "PD" Knight, 91, left this earthly life on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his residence. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January, 29, 2022 at the Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Darrell Brumfield and Reverend Matthew Tilley officiating. Social distancing guidelines are to be observed and face coverings are required. Mr. Knight will lie in state from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison for those wishing to view and sign a register. Mr. Knight was born on May 3, 1930 in Rockingham County to the late George E. Knight, Sr. and Estelle Hopper Knight. PD was a member of Ellisboro Baptist Church for over 70 years, where he served in many positions, one of which was a Deacon. He was a member of the Dan River Masonic Lodge. A farmer all of his life, he also had careers as a real estate broker and insurance agent, and retired from MacField Texturing Company. PD was an enthusiast in family history and genealogy. In his retirement years, along with his wife, he served his community volunteering with the Meals On Wheels program. PD loved to play golf in his leisure time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Billie Ann Williams Knight, and by his son, Maxwell Jan Knight. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Survivors include children, Michael D. Knight (Betty), Van Knight (Monee), Paula McCollum, and Tammy Knight (Mike); grandchildren, Michael Knight, Zeb Knight (Kristin), Carrie McCollum (Mitch), Hanna Joy (Jeremy), Ross Knight, and Johnny, Jimmy, and Joey Quilenderino; great-grandchildren, Cody Knight, Cheyann Knight, Mason Knight, Nathaniel Joy, Braylon Joy, Hudson Knight, Bennett McCollum-Wren, and BillieAnn McCollum-Wren.
