Shelby Sands Tuttle Obituary (1944 - 2018)

MADISONShelby Sands Tuttle, 73, of Madison, left her earthly home on January 31, 2018. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home with Reverends Randy Jessup, Paul Sisk and Eddie McClure officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Mrs. Tuttle was born on November 30, 1944 in Rockingham County to the late Lem Gilbert Sands and Maude Whitten Sands. She was a 1962 graduate of Madison-Mayodan High School. She retired from Unifi, Inc., formerly MacField, where she was a faithful employee for over forty years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed beach trips, beach music, shopping and gardening. To all who knew her, she exuded a powerful sense of love and warmth. Her smile was infectious, as was her love for her family and friends. Shelby was the embodiment of all that is good and gracious and her sweet, loving and nurturing disposition was such a great comfort to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Donnie" Tuttle; daughter, Julie Tuttle Coleman; infant sister, Laura Marie Sands and sister, Sandra Sands Southern. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie T. Morris and husband, Bernie of Oxford, NC; son-in-law, Jeff Coleman of Sandy Ridge; granddaughters, Chelsey D. Coleman of Zebulon and Carmen E. Coleman of Franklinton; great-granddaughter, Julianne Elizabeth Edwards; brother, Douglas Sands of Madison; sisters, Jane Vernon of Kernersville and Brenda Joyce and husband, Thomas of Madison and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and all other times at Shelbys residence.
