Thomas Walter Tommy Burnham Obituary (1986 - 2020)

Thomas Walter Burnham, "Tommy", 33, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 4, in Shallotte, North Carolina. Tommy was born March 10, 1986, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He also lived in Delaware, Ohio, and Michigan, before moving to North Carolina. Tommy is survived by his three sons, Walter, Bailey, and Spencer, the mother of his children, Sarah Burnham, and special confidante, Grandma Avahlee Bailey. He also leaves behind his parents, Tom and Marie Burnham, three sisters, Katie Long (Matt), Bonnie Rekstis (Don), Lindsey Clifford (Chris), many nieces and nephews, and extended family members. Tommy graduated from Northwest High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and GTCC in Jamestown, North Carolina, with an AA in construction management. He was very proud when he got his Builders License. He was an athlete and an avid hunter and fisherman. He played soccer from the time he was four years old through his twenties. Like his dad, Tom, Tommy coached his sons soccer teams, and took them hunting and fishing. He loved the outdoors and four wheeling with his sons. Another favorite pastime was searching for arrowheads with his boys, and taking them to Celebrations Station. In December, 2019, Tommy rededicated his life to the Lord. He was excited about the journey that God had for him. As he wrote in his Testimony, "More than anything, I cant wait to be with Him in Heaven. Because He says when you know, you know. I know where Im going and I hope you know." The memorial service for Tommy will be held at First Baptist Church of Summerfield on Saturday, March 14. Visitation will be at 10:00 am and the service will be at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. The address of the church is 2300 Scalesville Rd. Summerfield, NC 27358.
