Thomas "Tommy" Thompson Obituary (1936 - 2021)

MAYODAN - Thomas "Tommy" Phillip Thompson, 85, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Torrey Easler officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military honors by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison. Mr. Thompson was born on July 11, 1936 to the late Carmel Thurman Thompson and Vivian Farmer Thompson. Tommy served his country honorably in the United States Army while in Korea. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayodan and retired as a mechanical engineer. Tommy could fix anything and will always be remembered for helping those in need. He was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Baker. Survivors include his wife, Pam Soyars Thompson; children, David Thompson (Lynne), Mike Thompson (Tammy), Tim Landreth (Tonya), Chuck Thompson (Linda), Stephanie Vickers (Brad) and Jay Morton (Lila); thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, James Thompson (Bonnie) and sister, Chris Berenstein.
