William Abraham Billy Webster, Sr. Obituary (1925 - 2019)

MADISON William "Billy" Abraham Webster, Sr., 93, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at Eden United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon at the church. Mr. Webster was born on December 13, 1925 in Rockingham County to the late Robert Guy Webster and Lelia Hartman Webster. In his younger years, Billy farmed tobacco and operated the Gulf Gas Station on Highway 220. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was a member of Eden United Methodist Church. Billy loved to fish, but more than anything, he cherished his family and loved being called "Poppa Bill." In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Iris M. Webster and brothers, James Webster, Robert Webster, Paul Ed Webster and Jack Webster. Survivors include his son, William "Bill" A. Webster, Jr. and wife, Linda of Madison; grandchildren, Billy Webster and wife, Lindsay of Garner, Julie W. Mabe and husband, B.J. of Oak Ridge and Stephanie W. Penick and husband, Marcus of Summerfield; great-grandchildren, Carter Mabe, Braelen Penick, Emily Mabe and Brody Penick; sister, Nancy W. Gordon and husband, Charles of Greensboro; brother, Craig Webster and wife, Sarah of Madison and all of his buddies from Rockys Grocery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Eden United Methodist Church, 844 Eden Church Rd., Madison, NC 27025. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
